Swinging Saturday on Square

15 Jun

In life you are going to make mistakes, you’re going to fall down, but it’s the getting up that counts. Just like in baseball: you’ll get a few hits, but most likely, you’ll strike out more than you’ll get on base. But don’t quit. Find your focus, relax, take a deep breath and give it a good swing.

An early morning walk, a quick shower and off to the McKinney Square, my favorite place to hang out. A social-slash-writing meet up at Sweet Spot with Mandy. Then, across the street to paint and chat with Judy at Art on the Veranda.

You never know when friends will pop in. Hi Miss Erma and Miss Connie.

Ok, by now I was pretty hungry, so I ran (literally) over to Snug to get my favorite yummy yogurt parfait and a big hug from my buddy Daniel. The Square was hoppin’ with several weddings coming and going. When my painting/visiting ended, I scooted back over to Sweet Spot to people watch and wait for the Second Saturday jam session. Great people watching. “Here comes the bride.”

Now, coming to you live from the jam session. Folks just stopping by to play instruments, sing and share good music and friendship.

A lot happening on the Square. The Collin County Adult and Student Art Show was amazing.

So, I’d post more, but I’m busy singing along and tappin’ my toes. LATER!!!

Theme Song Thursday:Tea for Two

30 Jan

“There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea.”

Tea time is my favorite time of day. Of course, I sit and sip on my tea five or six times a day, so I guess all day is my favorite tea time. A couple of months ago, I was chatting with my friend Kathy, who owns the yummy bakery on the Square. We threw around some ideas about her hosting a special Tuesday tea at McKinney’s Sweet Spot.

Well, it’s official. Starting next week, Sweet Spot Bakery will host an exciting Tuesday Tea Time every week with treat, tunes and Toni. A special Tuesday offering of tea (or coffee for the non-tea lovers) with a sampler of Miss Elizabeth’s delicious baked goods, will be available. Miss Kathy, also a professional singer, will have her handy karaoke machine set up in case a spontaneous sing-a-long breaks out, or someone wants to belt out a tune.

Toni (that would be me) loves her show tunes, but I also love my arts and crafts projects. So, I said I would offer a hands-on art or craft demonstration. Anyone interested could create a greeting card or other fun project. I enjoy showing people, especially those who say they couldn’t possibly make anything creative, how to make something beautiful in a short time. We’ll be sipping tea, sampling divine desserts, singing tunes and spreading our artistic wings.

Miss Elizabeth will bake some sensational treats and Miss Kathy will provide fun entertainment.

COME JOIN US EVERY TUESDAY FOR TEA, TUNES AND TONI’S ARTSY TIME. JUST POP IN ANYTIME BETWEEN 12 noon and 4PM on Tuesday for TEA TIME.

Special Tuesday TEA FOR TWO only $10. That’s only $5 a person. Bring a friend or a bunch of friends. It will be a blast!
But stop in anytime. Sweet Spot is open Tuesday through Sunday. Great coffee and teas, wonderful baked goods, ice cream, and breakfast and lunch always served with a smile and an occasional song.
