Sunday Sermon, Spectacular Sunsets, and Some Other Mother’s Day Stuff

11 May

“All that I am, or ever hope to be, I owe to my angel mother.”

~ Abraham Lincoln (My favorite quote of all time.)

Another morning of 9 o’clock Mass in my pajamas. Today’s Gospel was the story of Jesus telling the disciples not to be troubled, and that if they believed in the Father and in Him, a place will be prepared for them.

Amen, amen, I say to you,

whoever believes in me will do the works that I do,

and will do greater ones than these,

because I am going to the Father.”

My take on it…Jesus tries to tell us that if we believe and follow His example, He will prepare a place for us.

Shortly after Mass, a call and Mother’s Day wishes from my family. My little granddaughters are so adorable, blowing me kisses and saying I love you.

Then, so many texts and calls from friends, exchanging Mother’s Day wishes.

When my son in California called, he said he wanted to surprise me, but he needed to let me know that something was going to be delivered at my door at 7 pm. I thought, I wonder if it would be flowers. I told my sons that flowers are so nice, but really, they only last such a short time. Just a card or call was more than fine. So was he sending flowers? Nooooo! Rosati’s Chicago style pizza. Delivered hot and delicious. Oh man! Missing my Chicago pizza. Perfect!

So, after sampling some decadent cheesy delicacies, it was time for my evening walk. Oh… and the sunset. The perfect ending to a perfect day.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the women who make the world a better place, mothers, grandmothers, sisters, aunts, cousins, and wonderful friends. But most of all… to my beautiful “ANGEL MOTHER” who smiles down from heaven.
