Sunday Sermon, Some Other Stuff, and a Spectacular Sunset

“A good shepherd is not afraid of the storm for himself, but for the herd!”

This morning I was able to watch Mass with Bishops Burn and Kelly on channel 4. They were live streaming at St. Monica’s. It was a very nice service.

Today’s Gospel was Jesus telling the parable of the gate keeper who lets the shepherd in through the gate….

“The gatekeeper opens it for him, and the sheep hear his voice, as he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out.

When he has driven out all his own, he walks ahead of them, and the sheep follow him, because they recognize his voice.

But they will not follow a stranger; they will run away from him, because they do not recognize the voice of strangers.”

He explained, 9 “I am the gate. Anyone who enters through me will be safe: such a one will go in and out and will find pasture.”

My take on it… We need only recognize the voice of the true good shepherd, and not follow the imposters and liars, and those who tempt us with evil. How do you recognize that true voice? That little voice inside you called a conscience, that’s the shepherd’s voice, installed inside each heart. Unfortunately, not everyone listens.

The rest of my day was pretty lazy, with meditations, exercise, phone calls, and endless hours of wasting time on Facebook and emails. I sure can flit away a day.

Then, the highlight of my Sunday is Face-timing with the granddaughters.

Blowing kisses to Gamma. Love it!

To end a lovely steamy day, (I guess it got into the 90’s today) a nice evening walk around the pond, just in time to catch the beautiful sunset.

Happy Sunday, my friends.
