I have a cold. Not just your average cold, but the knock down dragged out yucky boogers kinda cold. I haven’t had a cold or the flu in over three years. Knock on wood… I’m tapping the end table now. I hope this is it for a while.

The first thing I do with any ailment is Google home remedies. I normally drink a ton of tea with lemon and honey, but I think I was out of sync when I was back home in Chicago for so long. I wasn’t drinking my tea, or walking several miles every day or going to Zumba, etc. I think I was just run down. I told my sister about my cold and that I was going to try looking up some home remedies. I’m sure a doctor would just give me some prescription of some foreign substance that would make me feel better, but on the last line of the warnings is always…”And may cause death.” I never really heard of anyone dying from ginger tea.

JoAnn sent me a link with a recipe for a tea made with garlic. I know, don’t start wincing. It was pretty good.

I made the tea with garlic and raw honey, but I added some fresh ginger and lemon. The next batch, I added some cinnamon too. If a couple of ingredients are good, then more is better, I always say.

My sore throats was much improved within a few hours, but I’m still dealing with the runny nose, sneezing and cough. I can tell I’m feeling a little bit better. Slow and steady wins the race. Right now, my nose is running a marathon. More tea!

Once had chest congestion w/a cold. Looked up remedies. The one I used was effective-Tumeric in tea. Instructions called for 2 Tb. but that was a bit too much. Tasted like mustard but boy did it work!Garlic is #1 in germ fighting!
