Saturday:) Saving The Day, Just Like Mighty Mouse

7 Jan

“Saving the world is only a hobby. Most of the time I do nothing.”

Edward Abbey

**************

Being back in the saddle after five weeks away from home, and back to my routine means a lot of walks, running around, and back to saving the world from flat tires. When I find nails and sharp object on the sidewalk or street, I always feel like singing, “Here I come to save the day.” Probably just us old-timers and baby boomers remember that old cartoon, but it’s and oldie but a goodie.

I was walking Bella this afternoon, and she just so happened to be sniffing by the curb on the busy Wilmeth Road. It was a little too close to the occasional zooming cars, so I pulled her closer to the sidewalk. That’s when I saw, not one, but two long pointy and potentially dangerous screws on the street near the curb. I put on my Mighty Mouse cape and hummed the theme son as I grabbed them quickly from the street. Thus, saving some unsuspecting motorist from a flat tire. (Maybe even my own)

As is often the case, I was generously rewarded for my kindness and act of heroism. I found a lucky dime a couple of blocks away when I continued my walk. I’m a lucky gal!
