Friday:) Familia and a Fiery Sunset

9 Sep

“Happiness is having a large, loving, caring, close-knit family in another city.” ― George Burns

My cousin Larry called last week and said his sister Roxanne and her husband Jeff were coming down to Texas for a visit, and asked if we could get together. Larry and Debbie live a couple of hours away, so we figured out a place to meet off of Route 75.

The funny part is, Larry showed up at my house unannounced one day last year. He wanted to surprise me. I hadn’t seen him in maybe twenty or more years. I didn’t even recognize him when I answered the door. So, I was more than delighted to meet his wife and visit with Rocky and her husband this afternoon.

One thing I’ve learned in my many years on this planet, family is very important. It doesn’t matter if you see each other every day or every twenty years. Blood is blood.

We had a lovely late lunch at Pappasito’s Cantina in Richardson. Nothing says lovin’ and familia like Mexican food, fajitas, and margaritas.

I hope it’s not another twenty years before we get together again.

My drive to the restaurant was only 40 minutes there, but rush hour home took 1 1/2 hours. Worth every minute.

After a very frustratingly long drive home, I walked in the door, put on my gym shoes, and scurried out for my evening walk and to capture the sunset.

Here’s my fiery sunset…
